Liis Bio

As an entrepreneur, educator and top model, Liis Windischmann has played a leading role in building a diverse and inclusive fashion industry. She initiated Walk the Catwalk, a groundbreaking advocacy campaign that was the first organization in the world to link the singular sample size with the lack of diversity in fashion media. Liis encourages fashion schools, designers and magazines to change their practices by creating and embracing a variety of sample sizes. She is a frequent lecturer on modelling, media and self-esteem. In 2006, she created the seminar How to Become a Model for The Learning Annex and hosted a one-hour television version of it for Canadian Learning Television. She currently serves as a Director of the Ben Barry Agency.

Liis is a frequent media commentator on diversity, the fashion industry and body image. She has been featured in interviews in Flare, Lush, Canadian Living, TV Guide, The Toronto Star and the National Post as well as on Entertainment Tonight Canada, Canada AM, In Fashion, CBS News (Chicago) and Global News. She achieved her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of Waterloo and completed postgraduate studies in Event and Meeting Management at George Brown College and Arts Administration at Humber College. While in Toronto, Liis completed a year-long study in The Improvisation Program as well as studying stand-up comedy through The Second City, one of the world's leading improvisation centres.

Liis has enjoyed a long, successful career as a top model. She has starred in numerous worldwide print campaigns for retailers such as Talbot’s, Eddie Bauer, Laura Plus, Reitmans and Addition-Elle. Her frequent television modelling appearances have included Fashion Television, Fashion File, Breakfast Television, Canada AM and CityLine. Liis has rocked the runways for major retailers and designers across North America. Some of her editorial appearances include Woman’s World, Wedding Bells, Lush, Canadian Living, Chatelaine, Homemaker’s, Today’s Bride, Clin d’oeil and the coveted September cover of MODE. She is currently LOULOU magazine’s online 14+ Fashion Insider.


Liis possesses Level II Reiki as well as Reconnective Healing Levels 1 & 2 and believes in living a healthy, holistic lifestyle which involves and promotes the need for our society to stop obsessing about weight and instead be more concerned about the overall health of our spirit, learning to love ourselves mind, body and soul. Her experiences have instilled in her the need to continue to create projects that will raise the self-esteem of women, especially that of impressionable children and teens.
